Our decision
At the end of the assessment, we will make one of the following
decisions on your registration.
- Grant your application (this means we approve
it): we will issue a certificate of registration.
- Grant with conditions: by law, we may set
(‘impose’) certain conditions on residential services in relation
to age range, gender, service user category, service category and
the number of places. In exceptional circumstances, we may impose
other conditions as we see fit. It is a criminal offence to fail to
meet a condition.
- Refuse it: if you do not meet the fitness
requirements for registration, we will propose to refuse the
registration.
Once we have granted registration, we have the power to do the
following.
- Impose conditions: in exceptional
circumstances, we may impose further conditions on any
registration.
- Amend (‘vary’) conditions: we may vary or
remove any condition we have imposed. You also have the right
to ask us to amend or remove a condition and will need to do this
by filling in an application form and submitting it to us along
with a fee. You can download a variation form from our website or
you can ask for a form from your regional registration team.
- Cancel: we will work with you to try and
improve your service. If you do not make the necessary improvements
and meet the regulations we will consider taking enforcement action
which may lead us to cancel your registration. Find out more about enforcement.
If you disagree with our proposal to refuse or impose conditions
on your application, you have 28 days to make a written statement
(called a representation) to a CSCI regional director. If the
director does not agree with your representation, you have 28 days
to appeal to the Care Standards Tribunal.
