Legislation, regulations and standards
Your application will need to show that your service meets the
following laws, regulations and standards:
- Care Standards Act 2000
- National Care Standards Commission (Registration) Regulations
2001
(The National Care Standards Commission became the Commission for
Social Care Inspection in April 2004, but the name of the
regulations has not changed.)
The registration regulations set out the things that must be
included in your application, as explained on our website.
- regulations that are specific to your service
- national minimum standards for your particular service
Find out more on our regulations and
national minimum standards pages.
The national minimum standards are intended to be good practice
guidance to make sure the needs and welfare of people using the
service are met.
You will need to be able to show that you are meeting the
national minimum standards.
They cannot be enforced by law but we will take them into
account when assessing whether you are meeting the regulations.
