Children give Government their views on care
7 September
2006
Over 200 children and young people have told the Government what
makes a good care service, in a new report from the Children's
Rights Director.
The children said they want to:
- be treated as individuals
- have a say and be listened to
- have choices in decisions affecting them
- have services that do what they think is important.
Dr Roger Morgan, Children’s Rights Director, said: “Over the
years, I have received very consistent messages from children in
all care settings.
"I believe they add up to a charter of what is important to
children living away from home or receiving care services.”
The children’s messages will form part of review of the national
minimum standards for children's care services.
